And what a year it's been.
In the past year we have:
moved three times
discovered we aren't that great of parents,
had two callings together,
realized how hardcore we aren't,
had a few hard minutes,
started up school again (for Kolton anyway, school has never really ended for me),
and were married for a whole dang year!
And I'll tell ya what, we learned a whole lotta stuff in one year.
for example:
Projecting alarm clocks are less nerdy than they are handy.
If you're gonna dish it out, ya better be able to take it (that's really been a lifelong lesson for me)
He likes solitaire.....a lot.
She likes reading.....a lot.
He doesn't drink his milk after he finishes his cereal.
She refuses to eat the very last bite of her meal.
Neither of them will budge on these things, no matter what logic is brought before them on the contrary.
Potatoes are a staple and need to be eaten at least daily.
He despises smelly old dishrags
She despises anything smelly and will say at least once daily, "Okay, something stinks!"
He eats the majority of the leftovers.
She is happy eating a few crackers or a granola bar in order to avoid the leftovers.
The best solution to deciding which movie to watch is for one person to pick three movies and let the other choose from this selection.
Repeatedly moving a tv from one place to another via the back of the trailer will probably screw up the sound.
He is awful good at disposing of mice.
She is awful good at assuming the fetal position when she even so much as suspects there is a mouse in the nearby vicinity.
She really likes it when he brings home flowers.
He really likes it when she rubs his back for an amount of time longer than thirty seconds.
The relationship between she getting flowers and he receiving a longer than thirty second backrub is statistically significant.
When she asks if she looks okay the answer is always yes. always.
iI the answer happens to be no, their departure time will be delayed by twenty minutes. at least.
She will not fold jeans the way he wants her to...just because he wants her to.
He uses bleach when doing the laundry...just because she doesn't want him to.
Through all the stubborn-ness and difficulty and the few and far between arguments ( usually over things even more silly than those listed), there's been a lot of laughs, a lot of teasing, and a lot of fun to be had.
All in all,
It's been a year, my dear.
And what a year it's been.
