Bear Lake

We went up with the Hansen's to Bear Lake again this year.
We had ourselves a nice little time!

The first night we got there we ate a quick Costa Vida take-out dinner and then ran off to the Pickleville Playhouse to see "Bandito Rides Again" and laughed our heads off.

It was so dang funny. At least I thought so. I think it was the fake Spanglish accent that is so similar to how my family talks all the time that made it so funny.

The next day most of us went for a wing dinger razr ride. It was quite the dusty, bumpy loop we took. Shannon and I were in the razr together and I don't know that we were the best matchup. We were a bit scared on some of the steep and rocky parts and I was just sure glad she was the driver and I was the one who got to the hold the sleeping Taven.

Did I mention we were in the back of the pack the entire ride? Everybody got a kick out of how dirty we were when the ride was over.

Later that afternoon some of the family split to go spend some time on the beach and Kolton and I took a nap.
That evening the rest of the family went to see the play and we stayed to watch the kids.

The next day we woke up to a stormy looking morning, but we had a boat reserved, so a few of us headed down to the lake despite the bad weather. We wakeboarded a tiny bit and kneeboarded and had a good ole time even though the weather didn't cooperate.

 Love that boat driver!
Turns out, I do have some of my mother in me. I went out on the kneeboard, threw a couple 360s and felt pretty proud of myself.

Kortni also impressed us with her 360 kneeboard skills.
And Tyson was the lucky one who got to walk back to the pickup in the freezing water and rain.
After miraculously getting a refund for the time we didn't use on the boat, we decided to head home and bum around the rest of the afternoon.

We played a lot of pool,

 Watched some T.V,

And just dinked around.
Later that night, Kolton, Teagan, and I left to pick up some famous raspberry shakes from one of the hundred spots in town that sell famous raspberry shakes. And it was definitely worth it. SO good.

The next morning, it was time to pack up and go home. We tried to get a few shots of the beautiful views around the cabin before we said our goodbyes and jetted outta there.

 Hee Hee...

These two look like they could be father and son.
Our favorite newest Hansen family addition- Daegon Myles Barzee- who we all got a chance to snuggle with at some point during the trip.
 Brotherly Love...
 Maybe not so much....

And that was the trip! We had a real nice time and can't wait for next year!

Bye, Ty

Today is the big day.
The day that little sister of mine enters the MTC.
She is headed on a mission to Jackson, Mississippi and can't even contain her excitement.
I'm dang excited for her and dang sad at the same time. I'll miss her to pieces!
But it will definitely be an awesome adventure where she will learn and grow SO much and do so much good, so maybe it's worth 18 months of missing her.
maybe.

We've had a jam packed summer of fun trying to fit it all in before she leaves. But no matter what we did to slow down time, there I was this morning hugging her bye and waving as the car headed down the road.

She will be such an amazing missionary and I know that she will do so much to bless the lives of the people she will serve.

Yesterday morning we headed to the temple with my mom, dad, Tylee, and I for our final farewell day.
Tylee and my dad dubbed themselves as the "Temple Riders"  and rode the Harley into the temple with my dad in his suit and all.

My dad is the worst picture taker ever.

After that, we headed to Millhollow real quick to grab some sandwiches.
Again, my dad is the worst picture taker ever.
But his skills did get us some good laughs.
He holds the camera out and just clicks and clicks and clicks and captures some pretty funny stuff.

After we got home from that fun I attempted to help Tylee pack but instead sat on her bed and read her journal and ordered her around. I don't know how it happened, but somehow she got packed.

That night we headed to the stake center for her to get set apart and then had some family over and we ate and chatted and said our goodbyes. And that was that.

 Newman Family group hug

We love Ty, but sometimes you can't help but make this face after being around her for a while.

Love that girl so dang much!
I'm hoping to start a missionary blog for her and I'll update with that blog address so everyone that wants can keep up with pictures and emails.

The Newman Family Birthday Party Weekend Extravaganza

The second week of July we went up to Island Park again to have our own little Newman family party.
The first night we went to the Playmill and saw "Fiddler on the Roof". We really enjoyed ourselves even though we were dying of heat and felt like we were suffocating there on the very back row.
BUT at intermission we ordered a Dole whip to cool us down and it completely satisfied my pina colada cravings I've been having since leaving Mexico. SOOO good.

They had Brevan and Addi go up to the front to sing Happy Birthday to them and we sure got a kick out of the people hanging all over them. I don't think they thought it was quite as funny as we did.

The next morning we had breakfast out on the deck. It was so nice and relaxing to not be in a rush to go anywhere and to just chill for a little bit. Also, we had forgotten the hitch to hook the boat up so there really wasn't much for us to do anyway until someone brought us up a hitch...

After breakfast, we headed out on the boat. It was kind of a nasty, cloudy, windy day so we didn't stay long, but a few people were still able to pull out some tricks.

Pretty soon it was too nasty so we decided to change up our plans a bit and head to the Lewis and Clark Caverns to go for a tour. So we loaded up in the car and made the long drive there. When we finally got there, we were just too excited! So excited that Tylee ripped her pants and had to invest in some sweat pants to wear. We about died laughing over her ripping her pants episode(s).

And then we headed into the caverns. Kolton and I had been once before, but it's been a few years. It was pretty neat to see all the cave formations and we all had a nice time.

After that fun experience, we headed back to the cabin for some dinner and to meet up with Tyrel who was coming to join us.

The next morning Kolton was bound and determined to get home and back to work but we were able to convince him to come out on the boat one last time.

To wrap up the birthday weekend party time, Kolton realized that he had surfed with his phone and wallet in his pocket. So fun! So we laid out all his dollars and stuff to dry and put his phone in some rice.

P.S. The phone in rice thing really works! His phone is still kicking now.

And that was the weekend! We had a ton of fun laughing and goofing off and spending time together.
